| I bought the 8RDA3+ because I had gotten tired of all the bugs in the Abit NF7-S... Amongst those bugs was the SATA Data corruption issue that got quite some attention back then... Abit did fix it though... But this Epox mobo has the same data corruption issue... Here is the changelog for the BIOS Abit released, be sure to notice the data corruption part... Beta BIOS release 19 beta 0 for NF7/NF7-S v1.0/1.1/1.2 NF7-M v1.2 Release information: [ENGLISH] 0. Please use AWDFLASH 8.23D or later to update NF7 series BIOS. With incorrect AWDFLASH version, the GUID will be erased, and leads to IEEE1394 peer to peer function failed. AWDFLASH 8.23K is included in this BIOS package. 1. Fixed CPU temperature too high issue. 2. Raised highest CPU FSB up to 300 MHz for "user define mode" in SoftMenu. 3. Fixed SATA RAID-0 data corruption issue by adding a new option "EXT-P2P's Discard Time" in "integrated Peripherals". The default setting is "3.8 us". Please change it to "30 us"; which is recommended by NVidia. In case the problem is still there, try "1 ms" please. 4. BIOS Compile Date: 5/13/2003. This fix came after Abit asked a question in their own forums that got some 40000 views and 400 replies... http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread.php?threadid=6873 Here are a few news posts I did over at Techspot regarding the issue also: http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthrea...&threadid=5110 http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthrea...&threadid=5137 http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthrea...&threadid=5278 http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthrea...&threadid=5458 I'm using a Epox EP-8RDA3+ rev2.0 mobo with the BIOS it came with, dated 06/30/2003 according to WCPUID I tried to update to the latest A17 BIOS via floppy, and all I can say is that I'm happy I have my BIOS Saviour because the computer didn't start after that, it only came to post code 25 (reserved according to manual) no boot-picture and no beeps... I also tried to update through Windows with the bundled utility but that couldn't connect... To say the least I'm very frustrated over this, and before you reply be sure to read the provided links posted above. Specs: http://www.techspot.com/vb/member.ph...info&userid=41

| Hi! Same Problems with SATA here. Sometimes W2K hangs for several seconds and I can find a Controller-Error in the W2K event log. Event-IDs (translated from German): 11 --> Controller error on HDD attached to SATA 51 --> Error during paging 9 --> \device\scsi\si3112r1 did not respond in time This happened with Win2K SP3 and SP4, with SATA driver 1.0.0.32 and 1.0.0.28 with different BIOSes, with different RAMs, different PSU, two different HDDs (Maxtor SATA and IBM with IDE-SATA Adapter). Even a completely new W2K Installation didn't change anything. System: Epox 8RDA3+ 1.1 AMD XP2500+ no OC 2*512MB Infineon 64D64320GU5B Sapphire Radeon 9700 PSU: Seasonic SS-350FS Active PFC HDD 1: IBM IC35L120AVV207-0 (IDE) HDD 2: Maxtor 6Y120M0 (SATA) Drive: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-105 Hope that there will be a fix for this annoying thing soon. Michael

| The problem was caused by me running 200Mhz FSB but only 2,5volts Vdimm, when I increased it to 2,77volts (2,72 according to mbm) the problem went away... Also according to Epox the Data corruption was fixed before the first release BIOS so that is why it is not stated anywhere in the changelogs... I also ran the system 24 hours with Prime 95 so I know it is stable now.... To verify if you have data corruption or not I have found it is best to use WinRAR 3.20 by www.rarsoft.com and compress (with store: i.e. don't compress ratio) around 2gb of data while also encrypting the archive If you can run a "test" on the archive after that your system is fine... Also you can transfer that file over the network to verify if that is causing any problems....
