Problems w/8rda3+ and sata

I have XP pro installed on my WD 120g sata drive with all the latest drivers.

My problem is:

1) When I 1st startup my comp, my mb never detects my HD. It is usually fixed with a quick press of the reset button, and it usually finds it on the second run. Now on the 2nd try, it see the drive on the primary channel, but would say that it had 0mb. I tried resetting several times and even changed the cable. Nothing would work untill I hooked up the drive to the 2nd channel, and it finally boots into windows on the second try.

2) I benchmarked my drive several times with sandra 2004, and my highest score was 19960 kB/s. This can't be normal?

Info: I've tried several different bios and noting seems to help with the HD detection, or the performance. I even upgraded the driver for the sil 3112a to v1.0.0.32, and I am using nforce 3.13.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Ok I feel like a dumb ass, but I figured out what my problem was. I did'nt know that if you set your CD-ROM on master that it had to be at the end of the IDE cable, unless you set the jumper setting for cable select. Mine was attached to in middle of the cable cause I did'nt want that extra slack to compromise the air flow in my case. I guess that I had to learn the hard way. Im just glad that I did'nt have to RMA the the MB. However, my WD1200JD SATA drive is still performing like crap. Oh well, Im just happy that my comp works.

Glad you got it "mostly" straightened out.
