8RDA and overclocking

I am going to be buying an Athlon XP 2500 for xmas and I want to keep my current motherboard (EPoX 8RDA (non-plus). I have the 8/17/03 BIOS. Will I be able to OC to get atleast 200 fsb easily? Btw, i have Samsung PC2700 DDR ram (1x512 stick) and an antec 300watt psu. If this won't happen tell me what I can buy.

thanks

It probably will not happen easily, the newest Barton 2500's are locked, so you can only adjust the FSB, not the multiplier.......your PC2700 is not designed to run at 200 FSB, although it may, you will probably need to do a Vdd mod to get chipset voltage up to 1.8 volts or so to help the board with running high FSB's, then you will need to add a heatsink fan assembly to the north bridge, and a passive heatsink to the southbridge, to keep them cooler at the higher voltages, and last but not least, you may want to get a much larger power supply to aid in the overclcoking process.

Ihave tried five different 8RDA/8RDA+ boards, one 8RGA+ board, never hit 200 FSB, look at my signature now.

Perhaps if you had rev 2 boards like those abit's are , you would have succeeded easily .
I have two 8rda+'s and one 8rda and have never had a problem dialing up 200 fsb , all boards have heatsinks on the mosfets and southbridge and a 8cfm 40mm fan on the stock northbridge sink , ddr400 memory , XP 2500 Barton .

I have 2 8rda boards one plus (rev 1.0) and one non plus(rev 1.1) The plus board I have had to 225 FSB Single ch.stable and 215 D.C. Stable.
water cooled with a Vantec iceburg on NB. The non plus board in my backup PC is running at 200 FSB DC mem sync with generic pc3200 ram on air with nothing more than a fan on the epox NB heatsink. (to be honest I have no idea how much higher it will go as I havent had time to push it). Neither board has any voltmods or mosfet cooling, both have a passive heat sink added the south bridge . It took alot of tweaking with BIOS settings as both did not go that high right out of the box. I swear these things get better as they burn in. I think it is highly possible to get up to 200 FSB and beyond I had a third 8RDA board that Uncle Bob has now that also would go well beyond 200 FSB that was a rev 1.0 as well so for me that is 3 out of 3 able to hit 200 and beyond with no volt mods or mosfet cooling just good PSU's and taking the FSB up a little at a time and only altering one setting in BIOS at a time to see if it affects stability. It can be tedious at times but very rewarding
to epox for make such a highly tweakable MB
