OCing the PCI on 8RDA+ V1.1

hey

How do I go about setting the PCI to 37.5Mhz ? (I know my hardware will work ok as it did in previous pc).

Because the BIOS have only AGP freq.
Or is the PCI fixed at 1/2 of the AGP ?

any known issues ?

thx

The PCI frequency will be 1/2 of the AGP frequency.

..... Which is alterable within the BIOS - beware however possible IDE coruption / device damage / AGP card damage.

thanks

I am familiar with IDE data corruption as I tried once on earlier PC PCI at 41Mhz. but 37.5 was rock stable and I have GF4 vs GF2 before.

I think I'll do it and look for any anomalies in data and gfx.

On my 8RDA+ V1.1, the AGP frequency is completely independant of the PCI frequency.

With AGP set to 66MHz, I measure a PCI frequency of 33.4MHz.
With AGP set to 69MHz, I measure a PCI frequency of 33.4MHz
With AGP set to 50MHz, I measure a PCI frequency of 33.4MHz

Conclusion: It's not possible to modify the PCI frequency on the 8RDA+ board.

Unfortunately, I've not been able to get the PIC code from IOSS/VICS, so have been unable to make the modifications to the RD2 I'd like to!

chinease to me, as your sys is ..

I'll resort to benchmarking whats important in making the PCI run faster : the HDDs speed.

Ancient1-
Just believe it the PCI bus is locked at damn near 33.3MHz whatever you set the FSB to or set the AGP bus to. They are using different clock generators. Its the same on all Nforce2 MBs.
Whether there is a way of altering the PCI clock via hardware modding or using WPcredit I don't know.

I'm getting a different frequency here with the silly-scope - as well as sticking the probe needle in my thumb 5 times (too many shots of Vodka last night whilst on one of those London binges that empty pockets and deplete brain matter) - I'm getting a side band trace as well as a reference clock.

Reference clock is 33.3965Mhz and side band (+5V pulse to split 3.3v) is 1/2 AGP frequency at any given measurement - so to speak - through alternating frequency feeds this can really fry things very nicely. Running a fast PCI bus will not improve performance anyway - it will only serve to cause a reverse bottleneck in the bus and thus render the whole topic void!

:ET finds elastoplast in office and applies to blooded thumb part:
:ET revels in the fact Speedstep technology on very minute Compaq laptop is the complete opposite of the forums aim! - yet gives him 6 hours before needing a charge:

I guess you had a slow bloody mary..

rule of the thumb #1 : its made for sucking , and other usage voids the warranty.

I see that there's an argument arising here whether or not the PCI is locked at 33.3Mhz !

btw - let me know if u need the finger

well. Sisoft FileSystem bench support the idea that the PCI is locked at 33.3Mhz

EPOX - it should be possible to OC the PCI for a nice HDD performnace boost (and for phun!).

Dear Lord, "shoot an albatross" ???!!! i don't get it .

Wife has applied plaster and ET is okay!!!

Placement of plaster involved lots of sex but i am still alive :justabout:

Guarantee you all that Nforce 2 and NForce 3 give a split bus on 5v and split plane - via have hope on division based bus, intel lock on.

Sandra will report anything, like a chocolate fireguard - an oscilloscpe telleth truth!! Sandra like any broad tells you what you want to hear. Perhaps in 3 years Sanra (Schmandra) may be able to measure a bus, albeit a no.61 in oxford street!!!

Dear Lord, through your infinite wisdom I have come to understand my "need for speed" - is about "be quick or be dead". Unlike our vodka drinking brother, ET , who'se mind, consumed by it, was led to believe that "6 6 6 is the number of the thumb" and plaster is a condom. Wrong finger ! he must be "the weaker man"

anyways, on a more serious note - DIO Rulez !

and since I'm not in a possession on electronics knowledge, there seem to be no way for me to overclock the PCI at the moment. pity
