8RDA3+ v3.1 exclusive for HK buyers?

Okay, I saw this board on sales here in HK since early February, however I can find no related information from EPoX's websites or elsewhere in the Internet via google search engine. I just wonder, is this board revision exlusive for EPoX fans in HK

I'm anxious to learn more about this board revision before jumping on the boat.

Sorry philip, this is the very first I've heard of it.

Very well might be something to look out for. I'll ask my little bird and see if we can get a song from him.":O}

Don't hope for to much as he may not be available for comment.

It wouldn't be very wise to manufacture a new revision for such a small market as Hong Kong!!!

The EP-8RDA3+ and EP-8RDA3I rev 3.1 are widely available throughout the UK and the rest of the world.

Understood that should not just aimed for Hong Kong I'm just surprised nobody talks about such new revision anywhere in the world !!!

Any informaton on what improvement are there comparing to the older version? from what I can see, it changed from 3-phases power regulation to 2-phases, not sure if this has any effect on stability.

It's not a 2 phase power solution as such - it's a bi-polar smoothing arrangement that is very popular is P4 split-planes - a very viable alternative to having to thwart OCP.

hi y'all!

nice to hear all that, but didn't anybody notice?

*) only 2*fw
*) only 1*sata cables (on the q1 brochure it's still 2 in the pics)
*) at least no mention of vdd adjust.
(*) at least no com port with the game port on the brochure pics,
but says so on 2themax; am i the only one that can't have enough
rs232 and dug out old slot-covers with com ports from 386 computers
so i could use the other port?)

that seems to be the price for

*) usb cable is included again
*) optical/coax spdif onboard, which probably makes
some desperate people happy, but really only makes
so much sense if it's mcp only anyways...
*) the new power circuits
*) y2k approval (just kidding)

now i'm no expert, but the one thing i immedeatly look at when i see a mobo is the cpu power part. it is one of the main reasons i always bought epox, although most of the 8kha+ systems i built exploded, i figured epox had bought faulty caps like everybody else.
now i was wondering if this bipolar circuit isn't mainly a way to get approx. the same performance while saving some cost.
because practically all opteron boards still use "classical" 3 phase, many p4 boards (including epox) use 4 phase (at least 8 mosfets, etc.) although they are smaller and presumably less powerful.

if anybody got some good link where i could read up on the subject, i always loved to read about such stuff. i only found sites dealing with class a amplifiers etc., so i guess the bipolar arrangement does have its advantages, but i think i also remember that DC stabilisation becomes an issue with these.

this is purely informational, i don't want to start a flame and i don't doubt anything ET ever said or something, i'm just interessted in the details.
having owned 3 8rda+ (on 2 the atx connector completely melted because i was ocing so crazily that the current probably was to much @5V; i have horrible pics of this if anybody's interessted) and 3 8rda3+ as well (1.1, 2*2.1) i always got the feeling that the first batches of these have some really really good ocers between them. then it sags a bit, then the general standard rises (i.e. most boards made 200mhz with later 8rda+) and then when the product is getting "old" it seems like cost is being reduced and it becomes a bit "worse".

anyways, chill on everybody and i'm "desperatly" looking forward for 8RDA6+ (2*sata drives via pci suck, especially if you have GBE via pci aswell)
