Bios and Windoze problem.

I was happily running win2k on my 8KHA+
Then the board died for no apparant reason.

I received the RMA board today.

So I plugged in my Hard drives graphics card and A diferent PSU (more on why later)

It wont boot windows and says "verifying DMI pool data" then I press F8 to go to safe mode and it says "NTLDR not found" and it wont load windows any further.

So either my HDD was corrupted/damaged when the other board died.
Or it wont boot as the boards bios version is diferent.
Or something I havent though of

The reason ive swapped from my Sparkle PSU to a old 300watt is that ive no way to test the Sparkle for faults.
I dont want to use this potentially bad PSU without testing it.
How can I test a PSU without risking another motherboard (can use my p3 board if there is no other way)

Thanks allot for any help.

Re: Bios and Windoze problem.

NTLDR is the Windows NT loader. Sounds like there's a problem with your HDD. Try reinstalling whatever flavor of Windows you have, and see if that doesn't help clear it up.

This is a lesson for all to make backups with the best freebie we give away with every board - Norton Ghost.

It has saved me my bacon on many occasions - my 2Gb ghost image takes 4 minutes to restore - that is a lot quicker than re-installing and is pre-configured with all my drivers and apps that are stored elesewhere on another partition.

Thanks guys.

It seems that when the board failed it took all my data with it

Ive reformatted and verified the disks and they both seem Ok.

Im reinstalling win2k now.
Looks like its going to be a long night waiting to redownload and re-patch everything on my 56k.

At least ive got back up and running.

And I was messing around whyle deciding on what to do and I got my Xp-1700 to boot at 1650mhz on air
Obvoiously ive not done any testing but thats got to ber a good sign

With the new board I got a Vevision2 manual, its much better than the original version.
With the improoved norton Ghost instructions ill definately make use of it.
Thank the appropriate people for me epox tech
