8RDA3+ question

Memory question here, had this board a while and its been rock solid running 2x256meg ddr400 at 6,2,2 cas 2 running at 200fsb without any problems/crashes etc

Got 2x512 kingmax ddr400 and it just wont run it at 200fsb, no matter what speed i try, tried it at cas 3, slackest mem timings and it just wont work. also tried my mates corsair ddr400 (2x512meg) which he has had running at 200fsb, cas 2.5, 6,2,2 for ages and its the same with that. then just to test the kingmax, tried it in his machine and it ran without a problem at all.

So it seems the board just doesnt like 2 sticks of 512 in dual channel running at 200fsb. it surely should run though?

all the sticks ive tried i can say 100% run at that speed so its an issue with the board, has anyone else had this and if so can they help fix it?

otherwise im on the lookout for a new board

thanks in advance

You might do a search on the web for 8RDA3+ and memory issues. I have read that some other boards (from other manufacturers) that run the NF2 chipset have issues with 512 Meg sticks. The 8RDA3+ might be the same way. I don't remember if the issues were the same as what you are experiencing, though.

Hmmm well my spec speaks for itself - 2 x 512 sticks of corsair twinx 3200 running at 6,3,3,2 and 200fsb in dual channel mode. If you are hoping to run in dual channel mode, only decent RAM will do, matched if possible. Some boards will take standard ram others won't.

Were you running your previous sticks of 256 in dual channel mode? Could be that they are slightly better sticks than the 512's you have.

Finally it is of course possible that the 8rda3+ doesn't like your ram. Do you know what revision your board is? Also make sure you have the latest epox bios and nvidia nforce drivers.

I'm sure there must be others out there running an 8rda3+ with 2x512 kingstons in it. Do a quick search of the web an dsee if this sheds some light.
