Issue with 8RDA rev 1.x and Mobile Barton 2500+

Anyone know the answer to this issue I am having.

I have a normal Barton 2500+ which runs fine @ 2.3 Ghz (200x11.5) all day. I have just acquired a Mobile Barton 2500+ which runs Windows fine but when I run a game it crashes (system goes offline via the monitor going offline) and that is that. Nothing I try works when it comes to playing games. windows is fine though and prime 95 TT is stable right upto 2.5 Ghz.

Should I get a new motherboard? The L12 mod does not apply here does it as it is not a Ultra 400 motherboard.

What is the exact nature of the crash. Blue screen with errors or does it instantly reset?

I have the CPU set at 1:1 memory timings and the JCLK jumper is off resulting in a 133 fsb setting so I am told although the manual tells me that 100/133 when it is off and 133/166 when it is ON.

The crash comes within seconds of starting up a 3d game. Setting the fsb of memory lower (from 200 ->166 or even 133 ) seems to delay the crash for a minute or two but it still happens. Prime 95 TT is fine and solid. So I am suspecting that AGP/FSB memory has something to with it but these settings work fine with my original Barton @ 2.3 Ghz (200x11.5).

I need to find a answer to this because I feel that I am wasting my time with this CPU in this mobo and a Ultra 400 revision B chipset version is required.

Do EPOX do such a baord and it is as good as the DFI lan party if Abit offering ?

It sounds to me more like a problem with the video drivers or card than with anything else. What do you think, Danrok?

I'm not conviced that your problem is the mobo.

Managed to solve the issue. I am running the memory fsb @ 133 fsb and the cpu fsb @ 200. ie 66 %. The system is now stable.

I have the jumper removed so it is set to 100/133.

I have now managed 2.5 Ghz (12.5x200).

AMD systems perform best at 1:1. That is with CPU and memory at the same speed.

yer I know but I do not appear to have that luxury. Had it working @ 166 mm fsb and 200 cu fsb but the scores are not bery good in 3D2K1 etc.

Now heres a thing. Managed 200:200 @ 1.6 Ghz (lol) @ stock voltages. Then tried 200:200 @ 2 Ghz (10x200) but I keep on getting VPU errors from my ATi drivers telling me that the grafix card is not responding to commands. Looks like there is a timing issue between fsb/agp. It is set at 66 Mhz.
