8KDA3+ NV SATA RAID Setup

Hi guys,

I am trying to set up 2 x raptors using either raid 0 or 1. I have configured my drives in the nVidia SATA RAID BIOS and now in the installation of Windows XP SP1.

During installation, Windows Boot Setup screen doesn't detect my two drives as a whole of raid-0 74G; instead, windows only recognizes them as two individial 37G.

I am suspecting that I have to press "F2" during the initialization of Windows setup. But I thought since it's native SATA on nVidia, why do I need the NV Raid driver for that??

Any advice and help is appreciated.

Thank you,

You are going to have to go on the cd that came with the motherboard and create a boot floppy from there. Then in the beginning of installing Windows you have to press F6 to install 3rd party scsi or raid drivers. There will be 2 choices and what ended up working for me was having it install both choices. NVraid and NVide drivers i believe are the 2 choices.

If you don't load the raid driver, the drives will only be natively seen as one drive (the first in the array), loading the driver will see the array rather than a drive from the array if you see what I mean.

I have 2 Western Digital 80GB 8MB cache IDE drives on mine in stripe and they fly - loading Far Cry levels is a sinch - it really does burst well.
