ACPI.SYS 100% CPU ---> BIOS PROBLEM ????

My motherboard id the model 4pda2+ with up a p4 2.8 ghz.
My problem is this: after some minutes that i play or other with s.o. WIN XP SP1 with the last upgrade from windows update, my cpu usage is 100% within a program that use it. The process that use the cpu at 100% is the system.exe process. With a study utility i find that system process is used from module acpi.sys.
It's impossible that the problem is a virus or other malware because I scan my pc with 6/7 antivirus and with spybot S&D, Spy Sweeper, Ad-Aware and not a problem i find.
Now i think that is a problem of the last bios 4pda2+, the version 4PD24319.BIN (1A00) of the 19.03.2004.
Anyone know the solution?? Bye
Thank u. Excuse me for my english. Greetings from Italy

Try repairing Windows? Making sure you're at stock speeds and passing Memtest86?

You don't mean system idle process do you? If that is the case then this is part of ACPI's power management, it's basically shutting down unused parts of the cpu to save power and lower the temperature and isn't anything to worry about.

If it's not then take a screen grab of taskmanager so we can see the thread in question, just open task manager and press ALT-Print Screen at the same time, then paste that into an image editor and save as a jpeg.
