Recommended Memory for ep-8kda3j

I have asked OCZ for their recommendations and they suggest either 3500EB or 3700EB which is their new range specifically designed for the AMD 64.
However in the motherboard manual it only gives options for a combination of one single sided and one double sided ram or two single sided but this memory is double sided.
I would like to install 2 x 512 MB sticks so my question is.
Is the manual just repeating the official AMD specification or is this an actual limitation

Hi Esoteradactyl,

I'm wondering what are your current memory timings with your OCZ 3500EB memory... Also, are you able to run at 1T stable with both modules? I read somewhere that the 8KDA3x motherboards can't run 2 dual sided sticks at 2T (but can't find where I read it...).

Thanks!
Rick

I wish only if I had the tools to mod my vdimm. *SNIFF* My PC3700 EB is definitely an overkill on my stock board.

eb isn't overkill on a stock board...it is the best memory for a stock board. Atleast it is able to run the highest speeds with tight timings with low volts. With most eb high vdim doesn't give that much more speed. They get damn hot past about 3.2v and seem to generally gain little fsb.

Ya, was a little bit overract out of my frustration of not being able to mod my board. My EB actually performs much better in sync @ 2.8v than BH5's. My Mushy Bh5 wouldn't go over 216Mhz 2-2-2 @ 2.8v. I could feel my eb were warm and were only able to get them to about 260Mhz highest @ 2.8v with auto timing, but not stable.

Interesting, my BH5 does 218 and no more regardless of timings.

eshu: So the max speed you could get at 2.5-2-2-5 1T was 217 MHz @ 2.8v on your 2x512MB 3700 EBs?

Esoteradacty, how far did you get @ 2.8v on your 2 3500 EBs running tight timing?

From what I gather from what I've read in reviews (and your experience Eshu), it seems that both the OCZ EBs and the Corsair 3200XLs typically run into a wall at ~220 MHz at tight timings at 2.8v. Both of them perform roughly the same on A64s. Volt-modding seems to be the only way to get around it.

I didn't record down how high HTT these PC3700 EBs went with 2.5-2-2 1T timing, but I'll test them again with 2.8v and post back the result.

Vdimm mod is definitely the way to go if you want any serious result.

memtest stable at 2.5-2-2-5 upto 233 but i had to drop to 3-2-2-8 in windows above 225 to pass 32mb SuperPi.

more volts would definitely help since this is with only 2.73-2.78v in BIOS.
