| single s-ata wont install win2k-sp4 Brand new system on Epox EP-8KRAI motherboard, using a samsung s-ata disk. Im using a multiboot 4 in 1, win2000 cd, and the VIA sata diskette that followed the mainboard bundle. When I press F6 during installation nothing happenes, it continiues to load files before prompting me to press "s" if I wanna add specific storage devices. I I press S and choose win2000 drivers, they load, and setup continiues to load install files. When it reach the point where its says "Starting windows 2000", where its suppose to start the format and NTFS setup, the computer crashes in blackscreen and makes a speaker alarm; Lowpitch-highpitch-lowpitch-highpitch. I have to hold power button for 5 sec to turn off. The HDD is visible in BIOS, and in the RAID bios.

| Use the SATA drivers on the floppy disc. It won't ask you for them straight away after pressing F6.

| Error beeps which sound like a siren can mean that the CPU is overheating. This may depend on the BIOS chip. Have you looked up the beep code?

| That two-tone siren may be the one generated by the hardware-based OTP circuit, which you can't disable without modifying the board. Are you overclocking at all at this point? If you are, you should go back to bog standard timings. If you aren't, or you continue having problems, I would investigate and make sure that the HSF is properly seated on the CPU and that you have a very thin film of heat sink compound covering the entire surface of the chip.

| Im not overclocking. Everything is at default load in BIOS except I have turned ON the serial ATA raid function. The computer was assembled by the store, so I assume they have applied some thermal paste or tape. Im gonna check to make sure though. Thanks for replying everyone!
