Need a link to optimal BIOS settings for overclocking with an Epox 8RDA+

I have the latest bios, and I'm running on it a T bred B 0249 with 2 Corsair XMS PC3500 256Mb sticks in dual channel mode. The CPU and NB have each their own WC circuit, the case is an AMK OCD-810 Full Tower modded (lots of fans), more details on my setup can be found in my 8RDA+ problems thread.

I made my second attempt at overclocking with the following settings :

CPU and Ram settings set to Expert to allow me playing with settings.

System Performances and CPU Interface : Optimal

Multiplier : 10X

FSB : 200Mhz

Memory Frequency : 100%

Ram timings : 11-3-3-2

FSB and AGP Spread Spectrum and the two other ram related settings are left to default values.

Vcore : 1.8V even if I believe that I don't need such a high voltage for that speed

V DDR : 2.77V

Here MBM and WPCUID screecshots :

Searching old post here is probably the best for bios setup info .
Try 11-3-3-2.5 or 8-3-3-2.5 mem timing , then try increasing the fsb .

I made my second attempt at overclocking with the following settings :

CPU and Ram settings set to Expert to allow me playing with settings.

System Performances and CPU Interface : Optimal and aggressive

Multiplier : 10X 10.5

FSB : 200Mhz 215

Memory Frequency : 100%

Ram timings : 11-3-3-2 9, 3, 2, 2.

FSB and AGP Spread Spectrum Disable

Memory auto precharge enable
Fast write enable

Try it and good luck.

Not sure what the technical description of this is, someone named ET will have to answer, but rumour has it that it "increases memory compatibility while decreasing performance".

Since you've volunteered to be the guinea pig see what effect it has on your max FSB and memory-intensive benchmarks?

The RAM you have is real good. Winbond BH-5 DRAM modules on those sticks. You should be able to run tight timings of 2-2-2-6 ( or 11, instead of 6, quite often works better on NF2 systems ).

For maximum memory bandwidth you'll be wanting to up your FSB. The RAM is rated at 217, why not run at at least that. But if the board won't let you, then 210 or 212, 215, etc.

I'd turn the spread spectrum off and try the CPU interface set to Aggressive.

Here is a decent guide to BIOS setup on the 8RDA+...

By the way, you didn't say which revision of the board you have.

Hope this all helps

Cheers,
Scott
