Cannot install winXP on new 8KDA3J

Hey all, this is my first post , and I am having some frustrating problems with my set up. Here is my setup:

A64 3200 newcastle, 8kda3J, 2x512 OCZ PC3700EB, ATI 9800pro->XT, Antec true480 watts, slk948-U + 80mm smartfan II on it.

Ok, so I am trying to do a clean install of XP pro. I have tried to do it on two different hard drives, one of which is brand new (WD 160gig ata100 8meg cache 7500rpm, older one is a Maxtor 80gig ata133 8meg 7500), and it gets through the format stage just fine, installs the windows files, reboots and shows the win xp splash screen, then as it should go to the windows set up, it displays a big BSOD:

Quote:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check the hard drive to make sure it is properly confugured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technincal information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7C7A640,0xc0000034,0x0000000,0x0000000)
No viruses on new or old hard drive. Make sure it is properely configured? do they mean the jumpers? well, they are in the proper position. I have no idea how to run the CHKDSK thingy, but I don't see how two harddrives could both be corrupted.

I have tried with one memmory stick, also have tried repositioning them in the different slots, also I have taken almost everything out and put back in, yet it still does this to me.

I have everything in the bios set where it needs to be (unless I am overlooking something stupid). The LED's stay @ 66 while all the files load up and windows tries to come on (not sure if that is normal).

Thank you guys for reading and for any help.

it says it is at 1.6vcore when it is set to 1.55 in the bios. all oter readings seem fine as well.

EDIT: I have tried to mess around with my IDE stuff, put the cd drive and the HDD bothe on the same cable, but still a no go. ATM they are on separate IDE Cables.

Also tried different ram, and still a no go. I am getting ready to try a different video card, then a different PSU. if those still do not work, then I am tempted to say it is a bad mobo (but I still doubt it is, because it doesn't flash any error codes--that I am aware fo).

Ok, it turns out my board was undervolting.

@ 1.55v ----> 1.42
@ 1.60v-----> 1.44
@1.65v----->1.64-1.63

Is there any fix to this? What if I want my system @ 1.6v? I will try some of the beta bios' floating around, hopefully those will fix the deal. I am currently in the process of installling all those windows updates, so hopefully everything is fine now.

EDIT: I just noticed that when I power down my computer, it takes it forever, and then finally when it gets shut down, the mouse still has the red led on and the keyboard lights are still on... is this a bios issue as well?

The board is applying power to the KB and mouse in case you set the BIOS to allow them to power up your computer.

Yeah, I changed something in the Power options in the bios, and it all seems fine now... thanks!
