Exclamation 8KHA+ overclock

Hi, it's Juano from Spain ;-)

I've got an Athlon 1000 AXIAR/Y (200 fsb) in a 8KHA+ motherboard and I want to overclock them till 1500 MHz.

It works fine at 1400 MHZ (10x140, 1.85 vcore) but after that it fails. I think I need to make the vcore mod up to 2v, but I don't know how. Please tell me what I should do, and explain it clear and easy, because my english is very poor. I hope you can understand me... thank you!

Juano.

PS: I forgot... which is the best BIOS for my motherboard?? I've flashed the 8khi2116.bin one, that I think enables the 1/5 PCI divisor... right? I've got the 8khi2102.bin and the 8khi2108.bin too. Please help me!

1500MHZ is not easy to reach with a 1ghz chip, only trancebear has gotten higher with aircooling.... the CPU probably cant take much more!

what kind of cooling are you using?

Juano,

For vcore mod, you can check the old threads. This has been discussed many times.

Talking

I have a Titan Cooler TCC-D5, and it works great... It's about 40-45ยบ on full-load . By the way, I've seen others AXIAR 1000@1500 (or more) with aircooling, so I know it's possible. I just need to increase the vcore .

I've read some posts before in the forum, but i can't understand them completely... (I've some problems with my english language). Could you please make me a draw of the mod and an easy explanation??

Thanks again. See ya, Juano.

bios....

The 8khi2116.bin is the most recent bios, but the 8khi2108.bin is the best from my testing.

As for the 1/5 PCI divider, it doesnt exist in any bios or in any other KT266/a boards for that matter. Seems it was just a rumor.

Also what kind of memory are you using?
140x10 is respectable but you should be able to do better.

My Crucial a.k.a. Micron does 166 with the most aggressive timings.

I use the 8khi2116.bin BIOS and it works GREAT !!

BTW, I am using a Kingmax PC2400. I was running my XP1500+ @ 10x145fsb most of the time and by adjusting up the Vmem to 2.9v and 3.0v, I could push my cpu to 10x160fsb and 10x166fsb. TURBO memory setting, 4 bank interleave.

Vcore mod for Xp chips is not really necessary, as majority of the Xp chips do not fetch extra mhz with excessive Vcore. Personnaly, I do not encourage Vmod as it void the warranty as well.

In fact, other than some nice increase in benchmark scores, you would not see much diff between 1.4ghz and 1.5ghz. Why push the cpu to that limit ?

Solution :

1). Perhaps to increase the benchmark with the present OC limit, you can go for higher FSB, by lowering down the multiplier.

2). Up your Vmem and see how much more you can get ..

BTW, 40% overclock is already very GOOD. 40-45'C is a very good temp, but I really doubt that a OC TB can be that cool, probably you are still in winter season.

My Xp1500+ at default speed run at 42-45'C, in Malaysia. Case temp at 34-36'C. 3 casing fans

I've found a very good guide about the vcore mod...

http://www.teccentral.de/overclockin...ndex/anzeigen/

I'll make it next week, and I hope I will be able to complete my extreme overclock
Thank you for your opinions, I will tell you my results soon.
See ya...
