[8RDA+] Memory can run at 225MHz Single Channel, but can't at 210MHz Dual Channel

Anyone can help me to solve this problem or explain this limitation? Thanks.

PS: At 225MHz stability was tested by prime95.

Hi
Thats usual.Running dual channel puts a much higher stress on the chipset.I think you'll find though that 225 single is faster than 210 dual anyhow.Anything much more than 5Mhz difference and i'll take single channel anyday although I think it makes more difference on the 8RGA with its int graphices.

Hi smiffy!

Another question: In Dual Channel memory is more stressed or only North Bridge?

Which VDD do you need to run 220MHz and 231MHz of FSB respectly? Thanks.

Are you using matched memory modules?

Hi SlackDM

1.8v vdd on the 231Mhz,can't remember on rig 2,i think 1.8v.Have never tried 2v long term, did on Rig 1 for a while but it topped at 238Mhz,more i think the old Twinmoss BH5 than the board maybe. The new 8RDA ive just picked up is at the mo 229Mhz on 1.6vdd.I may try 2v on Rig 1 with the Cosair 3200XL but need to sink the control and mosfet chip first. There have been reports of 2v killing the northbridge but i have a hunch about that.I think the mosfet chip(2 little 8 pin jobs at end of agp slot, the nearest to the slot supplys the volts for the northbridge, the other controls the former)) gets too hot at 2v,goes boobies up and goes either open or short circuit. If open the no supply to the northbridge,if short then either full 5v or 3.3v(not sure what)to northbridge which would def fry it i think.the supply chip runs very hot even on 1.8vdd.The Northbridge as cool as a cucunger.I ran my old 1.1 on 1.925v for yonks and my mum still has it at 1.925v on 218 single channel. It did however have a chopped down thermaltake heatsink on the chips. As all three 2.2s do different buses on different volts it just goes to show boards are like cpus are like a box of chocolates,u never know what ya gonna get.

Can we establish the rev of the board here and congruence of the two sticks?

My memory modules are Spectek PC2700 256Mb (FBGA chips) that can run at 225MHz with 2.9V (12 hours primed)!

Exists any timing/BIOS parameter that have influence in dual channel or only chipset is more stressed?

An aggressive interface usually helps (although that sounds a paradox).

Is this a rev 2.x mainboard ?

Have to agree, never had much luck with optimal.
Having fun with Corsair 3200XL at the mo.On rig 1 every time i adjust the fsb in bios it starts with C1 error, have to pull XL,plug in BH5,restart machine and boot then shut down and put XL back in,think the stick may be going dicky, will try other stick.A new bios chip also seems to have cured the IE Wininet.dll errors i was getting.Weird.Smiffy

Another position: Windows can't start at 220MHz in Dual Channel with VDD = 1.85V, but continue run rock solid at 225MHz Single Channel with VDD = 1.75V. Can be related a BIOS version?

Anyone have more tips...
