| EP-8rda3+ Audio subsystem problem Hi all I have an 8rda3+ Rev 3.x board with Realtek ALC655 audio chip. CPU Barton 2500@3200 (11x200), RAM 2x256 Hynix PC4000, System BIOS 07/29/2004 Win2K SP4 Every time after cold boot the audio chip is not recognised by the system, and is shown at Device Manager window as Other PCI Device with I/O Range dc00-dcff and e000-e07f, Memory Range e5001000-e5001fff, IRQ 10, and no audo drivers are loaded. Everything is working fine except the sound subsystem, which is lookin completely dead. After warm reboot, even with power cord disconnected for a few minutes, the chip always changes it's resourses, the I/O Range being dc00-dcff and e000-e07f, Memory Range e5000000-e5000fff, and IRQ 20. The audio drivers are loaded as required. No conflicting resources detected in both cases. The IRQ 10 is not using by any device in the system, the IRQ 20 is shared witn onboard PCI/USB Host Controller. A few additional devices installed are: AverMedia WDM Audio at IRQ 11 Realtek RTL8029 PCI Ethernet IRQ 16 AverMedia WDM Video at IRQ 17 (Shared with onboard 1394 Controller) HCF PCI Modem IRQ 18 NVidia GF4 Ti4200 IRQ 19 (Shared with onboard RTL 8139 Ethernet) So, what could it be? Any suggestions appreciated Thanks Igor

Originally it was Realtek AC97 audio ver. 3.51 supplied with the MB. Now it is the same driver new ver 3.61 (5.10.0.5630). No difference. Quote:

| I should have said "has it ever worked CORRECTLY"? It may be a driver problem. I had some difficulties until I installed a new driver - WDM_a354a.EXE You can find this at http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs...eckAC97driver/ it seems to be missing from the Realtek site now. Hope this helps. |

Unfortunately, I can't tell it certainly: the computer is normally on, and it is quite rarely switched off for a long time. It seems, this bug appeared a few month ago, and probably wasn't so stable before; but I'm not sure. Thank you for the link, I'll try changing the driver. Regards, Igor
