Epox EP-4PDF+

Does anyone know where I can a precise diagram or a scale photo of this m/b? Prefer both if possible

Epox TW & UK don't list it but it does exist ...(http://indigo.intel.com/mbsg/results...aryAttrID=9,17) and I've seen them advertised - but no pic.

Reason I want one of these is that I'm upgrading a desktop and need a flex-ATX board. Reason I want a diagram/pic is to check that it will be a direct replacement - especially the mounting points.

Cheers, Ray

All necessary info received from Epox .TW - excellent support.

Now I want one!

Can anyone help with supply to/within the UK? DumpingGoods.com show stock at $20 but don't reply to my emails - I believe they aren't interested in non-US sales.

That's a very kind offer, thank you.

Are you 100% sure?

My comparison shows that the 4PGF differs from the 4PDF+ as follows;-
  1. repositioned CPU
  2. repositioned RAM
  3. only 1 PCI slot (versus 2 on the 4PDF+)
My main concern is - based on what I have seen about the 4PGF, the CPU is repositioned to roughly the centre of the board, therefore moving away from any immediate external cooling on my desktop unit and heading towards the (warm) PSU. Not a good idea, but I'm no expert on this stuff. The reference I found showed the 4PGF requires a custom HSF & duct to exit hot air out the back of the (Cube) chassis. On balance, I think these differences make the 4PGF a non-starter for me, sorry.

Still, if you do come by a 4PDF+ please let me know ...

(Edit: did a bit more research - the 4PGF seems to be a Shuttle-style board: definitely not the same as the 4PDF+)

Cheers, Ray

A trickle of info is beginning to emerge about this board. Apparently it's destined for the Korean market inside something called an "i-friend" slim desktop (see here http://shop.joins.com/Product.asp?&C...t_ID=hyunju-28)

So we may never see it in the UK. Still, I live in hope.

Epox doomed if they ignore this bestseller. EP-4PDF+

Flex-ATX form factor motherboard for Socket 478 pin P4 up to 3.4ghz with the Intel 865PE chipset in a standard FATX layout (unlike the Tyan Tiger etc).

After 18+ months I still haven't found ANYONE who can supply this board fitted in the Korean Hyunju i-Friend and possibly other PC's.

I've tried Epox HQ - they have kindly sent me the user manual but won't sell an OEM board to a retail customer.

Epox UK have never heard of this board, despite it being on the Intel-approved list (http://indigo.intel.com/mbsg/details.aspx?compID=2029)

Is Epox doomed with this ostrich-like attitude - discuss...

Meanwhile I will commit to buying this board in quantity at a sensible price.

Surely there are other flex atx manufacturers. And surely Ostriches like yourself who purport after 2 years to be seeking a holy grail in QTY have missed the boat. You should have made your millions two years ago like me (?), not still be waiting for something that isn't going to happen.

OK so this is 478, PCI, blah, blah............. not really something that is going to create interest to build unless you want say 5,000 or 10,000 - thats small fry for motherboards. is that what you mean by IN QUANTITY ? or did you mean 10 pcs ?

wild_andy_c - ignoring the irrelevant aspects of your message ...

I've done my research on all the other flex m/b's & manufacturers who sell non-spec (Tyan etc) and sub-Epox EP-4PDF+ performance m/b's and I know my Stuff (?). If you can get unused working stock of this board I'll buy all you can get, at a reasonable price. Cash waiting.

Well I'm sure that if you contact the factory and your order is enough for a production run they will make them for you given the correct terms.

Thanks, very informative.

Anyone else able to offer advice on obtaining this board? There has to be unused stock lying around somewhere.

Please.

Is anyone aware of a true source of supply for this motherboard?

Cheers, Ray

Epox EP-4PDF+

Wow! I can't believe you are still looking for this board. I think I talked to you a year ago, you e-mailed me the manual for this board. I thought you said at that time that you were giving up on it.

I too have been looking for this board forever. I have not given up either, but I feel as though I have exhausted all of my resources. Why are you so adamant about this board? I have an old school HotWheels PC made by the now extinct Patriot Computer of Canada. For some reason I can't part with it. Only a flex atx board will fit. I have upgraded EVERY component inside the case but those upgrades are a bit dated. The 865 chipset is also getting older but would be a huge upgrade for me.

There are a couple other flex atx boards on the market these days. I have thought about purchasing one of those.....

Kontron makes a board called the 886LCD-M/FLEX.

http://www.kontron.com/products/pdpr...ps=3222&kpc=78

Radisys makes a couple boards: Endura AB915GM or Procelerant CR100 with one of the Procelerant CE modules.

http://www.radisys.com/products/boards_blades.cfm

Kontron will readily sell to anyone. Acquiring one of the Radisys boards would take a little more work, but not as much work as acquiring an EP-4PDF+.

Any thoughts on these boards? Have you made any progress with the EP-4PDF+ since your last post.

Tim

HotWheels PC

The following link has a pre-release pic of the HotWheels PC.

http://www.gettingit.com/article/199

The CD case, mouse and mouse pad that actually shipped with the system are better than those pictured. The actual keyboard has red and orange flames on the yellow part.
