8RDA+ 2.2 cant install Nforce audio

Hi All
Had a lock up when playing Half life 2 and now the machine has no sound.Does not want to accept a re-install of Nforce audio drivers.Tried 5.10 and 6.31 beta, uninstalling and driver cleaner. All no go
Any ideas anyone

Found out whats going on
weird one.If I raise chipset voltage to 1.8v I lose the audio.Back to 1.6v it comes back.Bit silly methinks

thats really wierd considering your sound chip isn't on the northbridge.i believe on that board its a stand alone c-media chip and is connected with the pci buss.

Wonder if chipset voltage affects southbridge as well, not overheating, got a Zalman NB47 on it.First time i've ever had this on the 8RDA+ and have had 2 X vers 1.1 and 4 X 2.2.Bit annoying as board showed promise. At 229Mhz and still on 1.6v vdd.
stuffed a soundblaster live in at the mo,looking for something better but undecided.I also seem to remeber my 1.1 went higher on fsb with nforce audio disabled. But southbridge was cooking on 1.1 and is much cooler on alll the 2.2s ive tried

really strange.i thought the southbrige sound was disabled on 8rda's.didn't you documation say it used c-media sound chip.
either way if the onboard sound is limiting your oc and you have a sbl lying around it would be a no brainer for me.should sound much better than th c-media anyways.

The southbridge sound is enabled on 8RDA, but isn't as advanced as that as of 8RDA+. When chipset voltage is increased you will find that HTT voltage increases also and hence the soutbridge feed will have more current and may have side effects (running out of spec can cause unwanted effects).

More southbridge cooling may assist (talk waterblock) if this is a problem - this is not widespread.

Hi ET
Southbridge doesn't seem hot so maybe as you say extra current playing silly buggerz.
Got some Crucial Ballistix in now which seems to do what the Corsair XL did but at lower voltage.11,2,2,2 at 2.48v. just started 231Mhz on 1.8v vdd with sb live.
Happy Birthday for other day

Cranking her up
This Ballistix stuff kills the Corsair XL
11,2,2,2.5 at 225Mhz fsb still on 2.48v.Corsair needed 2.77v just to do the same at 200Mhz
