Is the 8K5A2+ BIOS suitable for my 8K5A2?

Hi,

I noticed my 8K5A2 doesn't recognize my new XP-M processor and so I looked for an EPOX BIOS upgrade on the EPOX download page. The only BIOS listed is for the 8K5A2+.

At one time EPOX said specifically not to use the 8K5A2+ BIOS in the 8K5A2 and were maintaining separate updates for them.

Since the 8K5A2 BIOS is no longer offered, does that indicate the + BIOS is appropriate for both boards? Is that the one I should now install?

I wouldn't worry about it. Very very few mobos recognize the mobile cpus anyway. As long as your mobo will POST, the only thing it affects is

a) the default startup bus and multi speeds
b) the cpu type that is displayed in the BIOS screen.

The first item simply means that the BIOS will start the CPU at 100 MHz FSB and the lowest multi it can in order to be sure that the CPU will start up.
