Speedier Firefox

Found this

Code:
Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

    network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

    2. Alter the entries as follows:

    Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

    Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

    3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!
Found it on a link from [H] of all places at http://forevergeek.com/open_source/m...fox_faster.php

I'm not an expert in this but aren't 30 requests at once a little too much for a server? One user might not change anything but if all using maxrequests 30 I bet it would.
I think maxrequests 10 are enough. Compared to the standard of 4 it's much faster + it's the setting most tweak tools set for IE for example.

Besides that the suggestions are pretty nice.

I understand that XP SP2 limits the number of requests to 10

Just passing on information from elsewhere that has shown great benefits for many.

Setting for 30 within Firefox sets a buffer stack, not a bottleneck.

Well it's still appreciated that you posted it here, or else I wouldn't have seen it.
That was enough for me to DL Firefox ( I was getting tired of DL'ing browsers that were buggy, and/or offered little more speed), and after the tweaks it blows opera,IE,Slimbrowser, and netscape away.
