strident noise on 9NDA3+

Hi all

I hope that someone will be able to help me.
I have a strange problem with my new 9NDA3+ motherboard.
The board is making a very strident high pitch noise as soon as CPU is in idle state. And the noise disapear as soon as the cpu is working.
(Note: the sound is not present when the computer is booting, or inside the bios page)

I searched on differents forums to see if someone had the same problem, and i found in a french forum that some guys had the same problem on differents motherboards.
So i tried differents things that was suggested to fix their problem.
I tried with differents bios, with cool&quiet enable and disable, with and without oc, with USB, LAN serial and parrallel ports disabled... but i had no success. The noise is still here.

So, now, i m asking to the specialist of the 9NDA3+...

Is there someone who had a similar problem ? And is there a solution to fix this high pitch noise ?

Thx for your support.

Ive a similar issue when using the scroll wheel on my mouse, I can hear a changing pitch in the noise, however I it has been a problem on other boards in past for me and have never found out what the problem actually is???

Dont know if this is valid for nforce3\4 or\and 64 bits systems

On my 8RDA6+ this noise is caused by the stop grant disconnect feature (on by default, and not accessible yet through non modded bios)
I use speedfan(advanced chip config) to turn it off\on.
Have experienced similar noise on boards from asus, asrock and kt133a boards from abit.
Sometimes the noise would only be generated when pci cards were active fex modems or sound cards.
Seem to recall the author of vcool explaining its some sort of mechanical noise generated by the cpu when disconnected\connected to the bus. Dont know if this valid any more though.

It might be caused by resonance on those copper coils. To see if it is, just carefully place your finger on the coil whilst you can hear the noise and see if it stops when you touch it.

If it is that you can stop it by placing some card in the coils.

I got the sound to start and stop on command. I used Ati Tray Tools and turned on the 3d rendering in the little window. The sound comes on from my case, turn it off. Sound turns off.
I have ram with LEDS that show what load its at, it was at almost 100% with the window turned on. Its at 30% with the window turned off.

A few variables to sort, but interesting none the less.

I actually noticed this sound when there was traffic on the nVidia LAN. When there's no traffic, the sound stops.

However, now that I have this 60db Delta Fan screaming in the case, I can't hear it at all any more. But I have a water cooling kit on it's way from the US, so i'll report my findings once I get it installed...
