Problem: 8KDA3J w/ 1.5GB of RAM

I've been running my Epox 8KDA3J with an A64 2800+ and 1GB HyperX PC4000 memory at 261mhz = 2.35Ghz, 1:1 (3,4,4,8) for a while now, and I tried to add another 512MB stick of the same HyperX PC4000 memory into the last socket (Board has 3 DIMM slots). When I did so, the system is no longer stable. I can't pass memtest86 or boot into WinXP even at stock DDR400 speeds (or DDR333 speeds for that matter). I can swap in any 2 of the 3 sticks and it works fine in any 2 of the 3 slots, but when I fill up all 3, I get all errors. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Is it motherboard specific? Supposedly the board will take up to 3GB which would mean a 1GB DIMM in every slot so I don't see why it won't work with only 512MB DIMMs. I'm running the RAM at 2.8V (the highest the board will allow me to give it). I'm trying to fix the board up to sell to my brother but he needs the extra RAM for some video editing program he wants to run (minimum requirement is 1GB, 1.5GB recommended). Any help is greatly appreciated .

Frankly the chances of getting 3 sticks of double sided ram to work on this board or infact any socket 745 board are pretty remote.
If you really need more memory one solution is 2 sticks of 1GB memory - Crucial would be a good source as they guarantee compatibility.

After I posted, I started thinking about the double-sided thing, and I figured it was something simple like that . I've never really thought about it before because I've never needed more than 1GB of RAM .

That's right. It's a problem of the sides on each ram. 3 double sided means 6 sides. Too much for the memory controller at higher clocks. A month ago I tried it out and I only get it stable at 100MHz.
