Too much for the fan header?

The motherboard that I am asking about is the 8rda6+ Pro but I think the question could apply to all modern ATX motherboards.

What is too much wattage/amperage for a motherboard fan header?

I know that it’s a bad idea to hook a fan like the 6800 rpm Delta to your board directly, but where exactly do you draw the line. If someone has the actual maximum wattage figure for Epox 8rda6+ Pro, I’d love to know what it is. I would also value your opinions.

Thanks

I believe ET mentioned once that 3 watts is about the max, which works out to about .250 amps.

Generally about 500 mA across all 2 or three headers is the max apart from LGA 775 boards where tolerance may be a little higher.
