I got a question for you guys. I have the 9da3j with the 3000. Currently have it at 2303 mhz. My vcore reading is at 1.35. It was at 1.32 at stock. Doesn't that seem kinda low? I would thow up a thumbnail form cpuz, but I can't figure out how. It says hit f5, but I don't see a file anywhere.

To take a screen-shot press print-screen or alt print-screen for a shot of the active window only. The image won't be saved to disk, but to the windows clipboard. Paste the image into a paint program with ctrl-v, then save it.

Hey Bob, mine is the same away. It defaults to 1.35 volts and was to low to do any overclocking. Well here is my latest stable results @ 2.7 had to up the voltage to 1.6 tho'

Thanks for the help. Here are some screenshots. I only ran prime95 for an hour so far and haven't had a problem at this low of a vcore, but I'll give it an all nighter and see what happens. I'm only using corsair value ram so I'm not expecting much.

Disable cool 'n' quiet, if you haven't done so already.

i get 1.3v on my 3000+ newcastle if i have "cool and quiet" enabled. i was suprised that the cpu ran at that voltage, but it worked fine. removing the CNQ driver and disabling the option in bios brought voltages back up to snuff.

LoL danrok beat me to it, but that's probably what your issue is.

C n Q is a nice thing if you aren't going to overclock.

I've got a 9NDA3J and 3000+ on it's way to me. What are you guys using for cooling and what are your load temps? I'm planning on starting with the stock HSF and a mild overclcok but probably going to an XP-90. if it looks like I got a decent overclocker.

Mike

The stock cooler which comes with it is fine for a little overclocking. Just be sure that your case has good air flow.

I just got a xp-90 with a 92mm panaflo ultra hi speed 69cfm fan. I have the fan attached to a fan controller, to keep it quiet. I was using the stock hsf and temps were 43c now they are 36c. Working my way up to 2.7 now, btw I have 1gig of bh-5 ram and had to do the vdimm volt mod, as most of you all know the bh-5 chips love volts, I've had these chips for about 2 years now and have been pumping 3.2 volts to them for that long. That's what was holding me back earlier.

Did you get to 2560 MHz on the stock HSF? At 43c Load??? That would be a LOT better than I expected.

That would amaze me as I'm used to about 50c load on an XP 2200+ o/c to 2400+ (1.8G -> 1.94G) with an Xdream II. Is 50c safe on a Winchester? I know lower is better but I'm trying to get an idea of how much playing I can do before I get a chance to upgrade the stock HSF.

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it. It's going to be a long wait until it gets delivered on tuesday...

Mike

Athlon 64's will usually overclock quite nicely without so much voltage, so that helps to keep the temp down.

Try overclocking at around 1.5v to start with and see how it goes.

I'm still working on my OC on this thing. Stable in everything at 250x10, my chip (3200+, week 37) needs a fair bit of voltage (1.6) to get past 250. Running 2x512 MB OCZ Plat.Rev 2, 1:1 @ 1T in slots 1 & 2. Oh the board is a 2.x "J". I haven't tried slots three and four for RAM yet. Will this help OC on later rev. boards?

You might try running the memory at 2T, see if that allows a higher overclock. Maybe, you have already tried this.

Don't know if changing slots will help.
