EP-5EPAJ Overclocking Problems

Ok the highest I can OC my 2.8E P4 LGA 775 to is 3.01 if I go any higher that watchdog function wont let me start windows and resets to optimiazed defauts. I have upped the Voltages for the cpu and memory and still, no dice. My specs are:

Intel P4 520 2.8 Ghz Socket 775
Windows XP Home SP2
Epox 5E-PAJ Mobo
Gigabyte Nvidia 6600GT
MGE 450w psu
Hynix 2 x 256 PC3200 RAM
160 GB SATA hd
MGE NINJA Case

I have heard it could be my memory thats holding me back, but what else could it be? Sometimes when surfing the net when Oc'd it will frezze up on me at 3 ghz and when I try plasyin css on 3 ghz after like 10 min i get thrown back to the desktop with an error message sayin the memory cant be "read". I also heard my pci-e could be holding me back. Guys any ideas on what my problem is. BTW its not my temps, they are always aroung 30c.

It is likely your memory at 215 rather than the PCIe. The PCIe usually goes about 240MHz on NVidia cards on 915 chipset, and ATi cards at about 270.

I don't understand what your saying sorry. Are you just saying that I shud get some like pc4000 memory and overclock it with that. Would changing the pcie frequency do anything?

Alright an update on the problem:

When I overclocked to 3.2 Ghz it worked so I believe that maybe just 3.1 didn't work. When I did this windows didnt start and some files were corrupted so I decided to reinstall xp since i just got a copy of professional. What can I do to get winodws to start then?

I loosend my ram timings from 3-3-3-8 to 3-4-4-8 and put the divider on 5:6 and upped the vcore a small bit and now Im at 3.31 so does this mean my ram is holding me back no doubt?

Also can i put the divider back to 1:1 to go faster or is that helping me oc along with the new timings?

edit: i put it to 1:1 and im fine for now. So the problem was the timings. With new better ram would I still need to change the timings ?
