ep8kha+ with agp8x card?

Hi I have this motherboard, will it support a 6600gt 128mb card?
The board is rated at agp 4x the card is 8x.
Will this work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou,
Cameron McDonald,
Australia.

It is possible that it may work, and possible that it may not. There is not cut line of guarantee due to the very different manners in which AGP cards can be designed to take power.

Older AGP 4x mainboards (and ALL EPoX AGP 4x mainboards are fully compliant with AGP 2.0 specification) may provide quite a few lines of 3.3v power for the AGP card, and as such may de-stabilise an AGP 8x card which needs its power in compliance with the AGP 3.0 specification which requires maximum power lines for all signalling of 1.5v with 0.8v split-plane.

As such - dependant upon the particular card design (and there are hundreds literally) it may work or may not - no black and white I am afraid.
