I've owned a 8RDA+ (AMD XP2100) that has been running just fine for almost 2 years. It is not
OC'd and only runs for about 1 hour each day. It would go through it's post and end up with a FF code (yet run just fine). A few nights ago, I started having problems with my printer. My wife told me that she had the same problems and asked me to unplug the printer. I accidently unplugged the running PC and heard a small pop. After plugging things back in, I had no power at all to the PC. My first thought was power supply. I happened to have a power supply laying around so I installed it. This time, the PC fired up, fans work,
CPU fan works, LAN light works ..... but computer doesnt post or go through any processing. The screen is blank and the processing light is solid red. The digital display on he board shows a code of "FF" but doesnt go through other codes first.
Did i kill my
CPU? Is the mobo fried? I read something about bad caps on these mobos. Would a blown power supply cause a problem with the caps? My buddy had a cap problem on a similar board. However, he would go through some codes and hang up with a C1 code (I think). He noticed and replaced a cap with a buldge in it to fix his machine. I dont see any cap buldges ... though I did notice a little rust on a couple of caps.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
