Thermaltake Silent Boost K8

Anyone with this cooler for their AMD64?

I use the stock cooler with thermal 'sticky pad' on an A64 3000 'Venice', my case has one 120mm exhaust fan, and is in a computer desk / cupboard, the room I have it in gets really hot at this time of year.
With my overclocked settings I get 38C no load, 46C under load (i.e. after several hours of bf2 etc), even mid afternoon with outside temperatures 25C to 30C!

The stock settings are muliplier = 9, HTT = 200MHz, CPU = 1.8GHz, HTL = 4 (1000MHz)
I am running multiplier = 8, HTT = 275MHz, CPU = 2.2GHz, HTL = 3 (825MHz)

What is your overclock (if any) and case cooling, like I said, my case is locked away in a cupboard with minimal ventilation, and only 1 exhaust fan, this adds several degree's to the CPU temperature!

P.S.
Why do you need to upgrade cooling if you have those temperatures?

I'd say that would be an improvement over the stock cooler. You can disregard thermaltakes silent claims though

You might also consider the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64, I've read great things about these both performance and noise levels and they are very cheap

Thumbs up

FWIW I'm running an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 (w/ AS5) on my Venice 3200+ on an EPoX 9NPA+ Ultra board. W/o a doubt the quietest fan in my system.

They don't have the shroud round them which takes away all the tubulance noise but still give a decent amount of airflow over the heatsink

That Thermaltake is a good cooler. I put one in my parents computer as the CPU was OEM and it does a good job. It's very quiet with the fan at 8V and not too loud at 12V. However in my current PC I have a Freezer 64, which is also a good cooler and is very, very quiet.
