Epox 8KDA3J Dead? Assistance required

I was recently playing a computer game and my screen went black with a hard lock of the system.

I have tried to reboot, however my P80P LED gives the following sequence:

FF
C1
C3
07
FF

From there it repeats the cycle over and over.

I am, was, running an AMD64 3200+. The system and CPU were not OC'd in any way and were all running at a nominal temperature.

I have referred to http://www-old.epox.nl/manuals/mu-p80p0010.pdf which states:

"07 CPU init and CPU data area init to be done"

I am hoping that someone can allay my fears and tell me that my CPU isn't dead

The ONLY thing I can think of that may have fried my CPU is that the base of it was caked in dust and hair ...stupid flat ..it's impossible to keep clean!

Unplug PSU and pull the CMOS battery for 30 minutes.

i you did a cmos reset that might do?
and the dust isnt as bad as you think
cmos reset is done by using the battery jumper or if you cant find it you can take the battery out and shorten between the battery probes on the battery socket on the mother board but be sure to unplug the ac power from the wall socket or you might fry your board
the second important thing is to be sure that the heat compound paste in not so dry (to crisp) or not there at all or else youll keep seing such issues i recommend using the bit liqid kind not the dry one

hehe thanks for that mr2000jp, but I've relegated my AMD64 rig to the floor...finally determined that it was the CPU that got fried so I'm giving it all to my brother for him to use (so long as he does Folding@Home for me!)

Currently running the rig in my signature, which in my opion is soooo much better

Oh and welcome to the AOA forums

Hope you stay on board and enjoy yourself, just don't let some of the miscreants here lead you astray! *glares at Chrisbard!*

If you haven't looked into it already, check out the F@H section of the forum and make a difference to your fellow man
