I can load XP sees my ATI 650 TV card and my X-Fi music extreme but load Vista and poof they go away can't even find them installed with scan for hardware changes! Now isn't this a hoot?? Anyone have any ideas????

| Daniel I figured as much. But please forgive my ignorance? What is hardware shaping??? I did some hardware swapping with a friend to get my mobo and ram and proscessor and my copy of XP pro sorta went in the trade also and now I am sorta kinda stuck with Vista you know?? Right now I am running the onboard sound which in truth isn't so bad, it's not the X-Fi but it'll do for the time being. I took out both cards and am playing the waiting game probably will call MS tech support tomorrow for what good it'll do, at least they'll know "Houston we have a Problem" ! This system though is stable as a rock and plenty fast also! Seems it'll be a keeper!!

| Sorry I was trying to be creative.":O} What I meant was that you may have to replace some of your hardware parts with parts that Vista in it's vast superiority can actually run on. Waiting is not at all a bad idea, things mature a bit, more drivers will be available and will work better as time goes on.

| Thanx Daniel! The sad thing about this is, I had an At8-32X Abit board with the Ati North bridge and the Uli southbridge and Vista saw those cards in it. This is just a Vista issue with the Ati SB600 chipset and that is all!

| Well it seems that after talking to Epox tech support they are having a few Vista bios bumps and grinds and will need a little ATI lovin to finnish the deal so to speak! So I guess I am in a wait and watch mode now! So I guess it's not just a Vista problem alone !! My Bad!!

| IMHO when you put Vista into every new machine out there and things still aren't working as they should for many/most people, it's MS' fault. They didn't offer us Vista, they stuffed it down our throat's without the slightest concern as to what consequences it might have for those buying new machines. It will probably be a year before most have no problems with it, beyond the open and continuing invitation to exploiters... But some have a greater appreciation of MS than I do...":O}

| Daniel OH Great Wise SEER of all good things Computer related you are so right! I am probably just going to have to shuck out a few more dollars and buy me another copy of XP because me believing that my mobo would work right out of the box with Vista and my parting company with my original XP copy in my trading frenzy to aquire this mobo and cpu and ram I have erred in my judgement and made foolish notions in trusting Microsoft yet again! But as I have said hopefully Epox can get a bios problem worked out with this situation maybe before I buy the XP Keeping my fingers crossed!! LOL ![]()

| Well one more post I found a guy on another forum that had a small command prompt entry in safemode to enter to get them up and going in Vista and Wow the pci slots are now seen with hardware in them!! Miracle of miracles!

| Can you set up a dual boot Frank? Most early adopters seem to prefer this approach. It let's you get your day to day done and then lets you hunt drivers and other solutions while getting to know the new OS... just a thought ":O}

| I was dual booting though till this recent turn of events unfolded then I got that bright idea let's run Vista as my primary OS with new untested hardware. So much for my bright Ideas!!! :0) LOL Just for info purposes for those who get this board and have these same problems which I understand is getting more prevalant as more are buying it! Here is a copy and paste of the text command to let Vista see and use your PCI slots and I quote from Hard OCP Forums from a posting about this mobo: (It is a common problem with several manufaturers motherboard bios in which vista fails to see the pci slots as active. Type this in the command prompt from safe mode "bcdedit /set CONFIGACCESSPOLICY DISALLOWMMCONFIG"(without quotation marks) this must be done from the C:\windows\System32 folder. then reboot and your pci slots should be active with vista. I already emailed epox with information about this problem.) There is another command to enter if the manufacturer get's it fixed via bios update: (When a compatible bios comes out type this in safe mode with command prompt without quotations "bcdedit /set CONFIGACCESSPOLICY default" to set it back to normal.) Daniel After my problems and frustrations with this I hope this part of my own research on the web can save those who are having any problems along this line with vista some much needed time and frustration relief! Thanks For your comments and always your support Frank_G

| Certainly turned out to be a learning experience for you. Sorry it didn't go better, but, then, you did buy Vista didn't you? ":O} I'm sure this will help quite a few early adopters get up off the mark with Vista.
