8K3A+ with 2312 bios faster than 2326 bios??? How Come?

Ok, I have the new 8K3A2326 bios and tested it last night on my system. I am running my 1.4Ghz EYHJA Athlon @ 1.5Ghz. to do this I set it to 166FSB and 9* multiplier. I also have Corsair Ram and at the moment Im just running it @ 166 Cas 2-2-3 Cmd1.

To my point... with the old bios (8K3A2312) I got a Sandra 2002 score of 2429/2356, but when I flash the latest 8K3A2326 bios it goes down to 2297/2217!! All settings are the same! If I run 3DMark 2001 original I loose near 300 points!

Can anyone explain this drop in performance? Has anyone else noticed similar things on their mobos? Am I the only one!!??

P.S. the system is perfectly stable at those settings. I will OC further when I resolve this issue.

Check in sandra that you are running the same timings.

I suspect that one bios is giving diferent timings to the other.

Experimentation is the key.

So are you saying its highly unlikely that the new bios is slower? I was sure I set all the settings to the same values. Has everyone except me seen a performance increase? I have seen allot of posts about the bios being more stable/overclockable but none on performance using exactly the same settings.

Hmmm....

ITs not just a simple timing issue then.

There must be some other diference between the two thats harder to see.

Try comparing the two bioses using WPCRedit and see if you can see anything there....if you can you might be able to change it back (Be Carefull)

Otherwise you wll have to decide yourself which bios to use, if the earlyer one is faster and stable then use it.
If the newer one lets you overclock more, or you want its extra stability then use it.

Nice scores Spacboy what kind of ram have you got that runs at Cas 2-2-2-1 @166? Do you loose many points running at Cas 2-2-3-1? Also any chance you could tell me how efficient Sandra says your memory is because that’s got to be in the 95% range!

I have just tried out the 2328 bios and although my ‘problem’ has reduced it still doesn’t compare in performance to the 2312 bios. I am now only loosing 100 points in Sandra 2002 (on both scores) and 170 marks in 3DMark 2001 (original).

Holst I would use WPCRedit but I have no idea what to do. Are there any good guides on the net I can have a look at?

174 cas 2 turbo on 8kha+.
now i'm locked by the XP

2312 doesn't seems so fast to me..
Now i've got 2328.bin

try different settings in the bios..
as trp trc ..
someone said that normal+cas 2 +4 way is faster

i tried wpcredi but it didn't help too much
