8rda+ bios flash question

Hi all,

I used magic flash to flash my bios today to the latest version from Epox.

Now when i enter the bios settings I only seem to get a very limited choice of fsb settings. (100, 133, 166, 200) What gives?

How can i install a custom bios from your download section with magic flash? Or do I have to do it the old fashoned way with a floppy. (I hope not, because I don't even have a floppy drive on this rig. I haven't used one since OS's started coming on bootable cd's.)

Does anyone remember how to tweak these old boards anymore? She's a bit out of date, but still performs well for a low end gaming system. She was a o.c. monster back in the day.

Thanks for any help.

back up

well, the magicflash utility said it backed up the original bios, and it has an option to go back...but i wanted to try one of the bios files in the files section from this site...the taipan one...supposed to be better than the epox bios i guess. i can go back to what it was...but that is the bios the board shipped with. is it possible to use the magicflash to load a bios other than the one it downloads from epox?

This I do not know. I am not familiar with the magic flash.

Is there any FAQ about the magic flash?

faq

Just the badly written manuel that came with the motherboard...lol

Its a utility that checks the epox site for an updated bios file, then downloads it and installs it from windows...no need for a floppy...it's pretty neat, i just wish it allowed you to install from a choice of bios files...I have no idea why epox would change the updated bios to allow less overclocking options than the original one

I have a feeling that somewhere there is an option where you need to enable "Expert mode"...

Wow, no. Don't use winflash. First read the release notes in the thread where the bios is released. Very often awdflash.exe with mandatory commandline switches are required. If not you still don't know what the outcome will be when flashed by a program different from the intended one.
