Talking EPoX USA Responds to AOA Forums re: 8K3A Questions

Here's what I received from Sam Kang of EPoX USA today with regards to all the questions floating around about new versions of the 8K3A boards.
Quote:
Mr. BongWaterz and AOA members,

Hum... Bong and Water... Well, I will still have to take this email seriously. As for the 8K3A2, current EPoX's naming system has changed the 8K3A2 to 8K5A2. The reason behind this is because the South Bridge will be changed to have embedded USB 2.0 in the near future. Which we would have to change the whole naming system due to the fact that current 8K3A does not have USB 2.0. EPoX US will soon have the USB 2.0 PCI card and 8K3A+ bundle just for your need. As for the schedule of the 8K5A2, it is still very unclear. My guess is maybe during June.

All 8K3A/+s come with 2 versions, 6 channels and 2 channels audio. You are absolutely not going to be seeing new version of the 8K3A in the near future. Only better BIOS updates for your Overclocking enjoyment.

Sincerely yours, and hope you are staying away from the pipe! : )

First I had to straighten him out on the ole smokage reference. Can't a gentle Bong Cooler guy stay away from all those nasty bloodshot eye jokes!

Seriously I did go back and ask how we can identify the 2 channel boards from the 6 channel boards but I suspect that has something to do with the different revisions floating about. We'll see tomorrow.

Thanks to Sam Kang of EPoX USA for his assistance with this matter.

I'll just clarify a little

8K3A = 8233a southbridge
8K5A = 8235 southbridge

As a guy who has repeatedly killed Abit motherboards, I don't see why everyone is in such a rush to buy them. Never again will I buy one, never . . .

I wonder what Sam boy's superiors would think if they saw that post on the [H] . . .

I don't reckon they'd be pleased, but I doubt they go around reading enthusiast sites in there spare time . . .

LOL. Honestly though, I hate weed. There was some kid smoking some on our bus this morning, and it stunk the whole thing up. Of course, you can't rat on him; you'll be on the bad side of his gang's list for months. I just make sure he sits no where near me. Dumb kids.

I'd try to RMA the board but you gotta wait until the new "5" series boards are out which looks like June.

And I love the "High" Quality reference.

I'm neither for nor against pot but by throwin' the leaf on my avatar looks like it has some people wonderin' where this guy is comin' from. Although all the forums I'm in seem to understand its not a "pot" thing but a "Bong Cooling" thing and the leaf is just for a joke and to play on the "bong" wording.

You know what they say "ANY publicity is better then no publicity!"

L.O.L...you've got to be joking right?. Try posting a link to the latest Beta BIOS on a forum like this one, look at your watch and check for Email from Epox.

Yeah Spyder I put that there thinking I'd catch less flak honestly. Again it was just a play on words not a judgement or opinion on pot.

In the last 2 weeks, a guy at t-break got an Email for posting the 2403 BIOS, and just last night another guy at AMDMB.com got an Email from Epox to take down a link to the 2410 Beta. Your guess is as good as mine. Seems strange I agree. Perhaps it's a selective guinea pig game.

When there are sensible BETA's you will see them, but but when someone just jumps onto the bandwagon and thinks "newest=best" it is wrong.

BETA BIOSes in some cases may only have one area to test, such as S3 functionality or similar. These BIOS are not for everyday use. Since people cannot appreciate this and still use the "newest=best" ethos it is not safe to let many BETA propogate around the net.

I hope that you can all appreciate this. Thanks.
