8KTA2 Problem

All right, I had the 1-10-2001 BIOS on my 8KTA2 board. I saw that the 6-13-2001 BIOS update had options to screw with memory timings (I never was good at that WPCREDIT stuff). So I follow the flashing instructions to the letter, this is my parents computer, not mine, so I have to hope I don't screw anything up. Low and behold, it screws up. I get the BIOS checksum failed after installing the new BIOS, which I expected. So I went in and checked my settings and told it save. On the next boot, I don't get the message, I think, "Great! It worked." Then it simply stalls after posting. It won't boot of the hard drive. I look in BIOS settings. It recognizes it and is set to boot that third, after CD-ROM and floppy. Check CD-ROM and floppy drives, empty. Boot again. This time I get the BIOS checksum failed again and it makes me enter setup and save. Then it does the same thing gets past POST and stops. Luckely, I could still boot off the floppy and put the old BIOS back. I'm currently running the 1-10-2001 and the boards fine, but being greedy I want those memory timing adjustments. Any ideas as to why it didn't work or how I can get it to work? Thank you very much.

A few words of wisdom. Locate and purchase a new EEPROM(or flash memory chip) the same size as the one your BIOS is stored on. Then HOT flash the new chip, and keep the origional as a spare.
