8kha+ and samsung memory

I was just wondering if there are any known incompatabilities with the epox 8kha+ and samsung DDR. just got an 8kha+ and keep gettingthe C1 error on the diagnostic display, and a series of long beeps. hav tried 2 processors (both 1gig durons) 2 video cards (voodoo 3 and geforce 2 ultra) and 2 sticks of samsung ram (1 256 and 1 512) and 1 different power supplies (400 something watt that came with my chieftec case and an enermax 350 watt). basically i've narrowed it down to a bad board or ram incompatability. any help you can give me would be apprecieated thaks in advance.

does that hae the same effect as clearing the CMOS? i've tried clearing the CMOS several times, so i know it's not a setting there. actually i've never seen the bios of this board, it just keeps giving me the C! error.

I can't get to any kind of settings. there is no display, it just stops booting when it gets to C1 and gives continuous beeps.

I'm new to the 8KHA+, but try this. With 1 stick of ram, using the PSU from the Chieftec, look for the jumper for 100/133 on the board. Set that to 100 and see if you boot up. If it is already set there, change it to 133 and try. Also, check the appendix of the manual for that error code. I don't have it with me or I'd look it up for you.

C1 is indeed a mem code. Interesting about the mem voltage as mentioned above, but..............someone else is running PC2700 on an Epox 8K7A+ with no probs. I beleive the answer lies elsewhere.

I think I remember someone months ago mention a memory problem with an Epox board. Apparently, the mem slot was really "stiff" and did not seat properly. I think he said before RMAing it, he sat there and worked the stick in and out like 10 times, and it finally worked. Really obvious dumb comment: Double check the sticks to make sure they are firmly seated, and try working it in and out a couple of times to make sure it's in there right. (OK, I'm reaching)

It's a duron, so i don't think it would boot up at a 133 FSB unless i changed the multiplier. I've also tried reseating each stick of memory several times in each slot. The 256 stick worked in another computer before and after being in my epox boad also, so i know at least 1 stick was working. I've also been exchanging e-mail with epox's tech support team, and they told me to contact my point of purchase for an exchange. It's probably gonna be a bit difficult, though cause i got the board from someone in the OC forums classifideds.

Had they been using the board? Or was it a new RMA kinda situation.

The first time putting the mem in mine, I did it outside the case with the board flat and well supported. Positioned the DIMM and literally jammed it into the slot. Got that slightly un-nerving scrunching kinda sound

As to compatability, PC2700 works great with the 8kha+.
Used cheap generic PC2700 with Nanya chips, and no problem at 167MHz 2.0-2-3CL
Then switched to Newegg Samsung PC2700, and no problems hitting 171Mhz 2.0-2-2CL.
Using Samsung, and my new 8k3a with fastest Bios can't touch my 8kha+ results at 171mHz.
All were running mem voltage at +0.3v (2.80v).
