The support for thge 8K3A has been lacking from the start, this is where EPoX fails to deliver. They make great boards but the "forget" to make decent BIOSes for them.
I just hiope the new 8K5A and the future 8K9A will have a good BIOS to start with.

I think the 8K5A5+ will be released a bit later than the rest because of the controller issues, both Serial ATA and SmartCard reader require special controllers.
Anyway, the 8K5A2+ looks like the best board for me, I don't need dual channle RAID or Serial ATA.

Oh, I almost forgot, the onboard LAN is one of my favourites, I hate my old NICs that start acting up whenever I need them not to. Plus I get more free PCI

I think thats a faster bus between the northbridge and southbrigde.
Id expect that to benefit PCI devices, HDD performance and other southbridge functions.

Right, the HDD performance should be up a bit.

That's not a crystal orb, it has no fan. But it is an improvement over the square squat HSF the Northbridge used to have.

There is no fan on this HSF, as far as I can see. But it does appear to use the retention holes, instead of cheapo tape like the 8K3A+ does...

What good is the Seriual ATA when there are no HDDs available and the SmartCard reader ?
And the 8K5A5+ will have no RAID, I hope you know that.

OK, so smartcard you need, but don't you have USB smartcard reader ? And untill SerialATA HDDs will become mainstream you'll probably have at least a KT400 board.
