3 second beep ( continuous) 8K3A POST

My 8K3A ( not-plus) beeps in continuous 3 second beep tones and now will not POST. I had just installed a new XP 1600+ in to replace my 1 Ghz AYHJAR T-bird. I did not damage the core when I installed the cooler and all fans ( CPU and Case ) spin when I power ON.

I tried reseating my PCI cards, my memory DIMMs and my molex connectors to my peripherals. I also reset the CMOS with the power supply disconnected for a 15 minute period .

I do not have the diagnostic LEDs in my board. Does the 3 second tone(s) indicate my mobo is fried ? or just that I made a newbie mistake ?

My OEM cpu is still under warranty from NewEgg

Any suggestions would be appreciated ......

make sure the CPU fan is plugged into the header marked "CPU_FAN", also check to make sure the AGP card and memory are seated all the way

- try installing the A4 and see if it boots.
- install the xp1600 on another rig
- go to the nearest computer store and see if it boots there. (you might have to pay a service charge.
- like surlyjoe pointed out, make sure you plugged the cpu fan in the correct fan header.

g'luck
