| 8K3A+ ALC650 Sound Anyone know if with the Realtek ALC650 I should install which driver Windows Update shows a VIA driver. I decided to download it manually from VIA at http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=69 the audio driver version is 5.12.1.3811 the Realtek ALC650 latest is 5.10.0.3960 The difference is that the Realtek drivers download come with a Sound Affects Configuration Panel - http://www.realtek.com.tw/htm/downlo...r&model=ALC650 The only other thing I notice is with the Realtek drivers installed its called Avance AC 97 Audio for VIA with the VIA drivers installed its called VIA Please help...

| I assume u mean the note on VIA Arena I read that. but on Windows Update they say a driver is available. so would it not be safe to say these are basically the same drivers? what i was hopin was someone might be able to say that the via driver is better becauses its made by the people who made the southbridge and therefore more compatable or somethin like that

| Actually I didnt know it would even work! Thought it was for default "crap" generic onboard audio, AC97! You trust both Via and MS at the same time?  I never got that info about update avail.I am using 3960 now on 8k5a2+ Works, Realtek seems to be ok with updates.

| You must use Realtek drivers for Avance Logic AC'97 SFP's, not drivers from VIAArena which are for VT1611, 1611A or 1612 SFP's.
