9NDA3+ & Opteron 144.....

2 Attachment(s)
Received it this morning from CPU City.

I'm having trouble with 4 x 512MB TCCD modules at anything past 280HTT 1:1. I know one of the matched pair are good for 300HTT so I took out the others. Sitting quite happily at 300 x 9
Will try for more but I think my meory maxes out at 305HTT, may have to use a divider and see what we get!

Exile69 12th October, 2005 11:48 PM

Wow, I really want one now. Where can I find one in the US for around $150 if possible?

bradmax57 13th October, 2005 09:24 AM

More more more :D one of the reasons I cancelled was the 9x multi would be much easier to hit 3ghz with a 10x so maybe a 146 is for me ;) but looking good on the volts, good work

Vui 13th October, 2005 10:17 AM

We have some 146 939s coming in on the 20th this month, Im very tempted to order 1 and sell my Venice, have to aggree 10x multi is a bonus but @300HTT stable even 9x is fine, although 10x300HTT rock stabel with good cooling like a xp_120 wouldnt be anything to complain about!!
BTW I ordered 2x512 ballistix tracer non ecc in the end

So is this the way forward???
If it will work on an AGP board (recommendations? was looking at the 939 DFI UT board) - then I will probably make the jump this month.

Laz: VERY nice clock to Voltage ratio.. whats your stepping?

Cheers,

Kenny

At the moment these are really good value, down to £99 odd now for the 144. It obviously works in an NF3 board, 9NDA3+ gets my vote if you are looking for one to go with your 6800GT. The NEO2 is supposed be be a good board too, so I've heard.1

Hi Kenny, the stepping is CABYE 0536 GPMW. It was one of the early ones from CPU city.

Hmm. Wil have to see what ebay will get for my 754/DFI UT and the a7n8xe/1500 semprom i am playing with. I just dont have funds for going pci yet :(. This is sooooo tempting. If christmas wasnt so close i would have gone in already. I think ill get the skt A system working 1st this week, so ill have a back up system then go for changing my main rig. Yes I am semi-commited now - just have to set up my back ups first. Thank you Laz/Bradmax for pointing out this option. Unless I can sell it here. Will post in classifieds I guess.

kellamne 1st November, 2005 01:22 PM

Partially there.

So I put an order in this morning for:

1 x AMD Opteron 146 OSA146BNBOX (OSA146BNBOX) = £111.51 (Inc.VAT)
£94.90(Ex.VAT)

Will order MB (and a cooler?) in the next week I guess - not in any major rush as Im waiting on ebay to get rid of old board.

Lazgoat 1st November, 2005 01:35 PM

I knew it would'nt take you long! :) But I think you'll be very frustrated having the CPU and no board to plug it in to! Plus, the extra shipping charges....every little helps! Get the whole lot together I'd say. Postage must be about £7-10.....and doing it twice....

kellamne 1st November, 2005 01:48 PM

LOL - yeap - I am a fool (i hate shipping charges). Thats a good crystal ball you got there.
Just got a call from them - they dont know when theyll be getting the 146's back in so i have now gone for a 144.
With the extra £££ saving >>>>>>
- I ordered a board/cooler - DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 ULTRA-D. They dont appear to have Epox - so will have to try one of those at a later date - o well itll be an interested week (that was the initial reason for not ordering the board earlier).
:)

my advice would be to stay clear of that board, ive got one at work and i dont like it one bit. I was using a abit nf7-s before would do 2-2-2-5 with my twinmos no probs try the same 1T ot 2 in that one and errors galore and crashes, but tbh i havent tried any other ram so it could be that. But totally different from the nf4 series

Bit late now - should be here tomorrow am. In the spirit of adventure - Im going to give it a go - I can always ebay later. Just have to find time to play with it.

This was going to get painful, like a kiddie in a sweet shop - just looked at your site and it is so tempting (9NDA3J).

This is why I didnt initially order a mb - but ended up changing my mind (mainly due to impulse and wanting to play). Need to have a look at the other board as its on its way - but may get back to you on this.

overclockers.co.uk (cough!!!) now have the full range of operatons in stock http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...Athlon_MP.html

MONKEYMAN 2nd November, 2005 10:16 AM

Thats is, Im gonna have to buy one now. I think ill go with the 144 though cus I will be happy as hell with 2.7ghz stable if it will do it.
Any instances of the 146 being GAMING stable at 3ghz on air?
