Grainy Avatars

I'm noticing that quite a few avatars are looking a bit grainy. Is this just me (or my comp), or are the avatars at a lower res?

Actually, I figured out it was my monitor - silly me. I fooled with the settings and set the refresh rate a bit too low (after setting it too high).

Good news is that the avatars look better now.

No, some avatars are grainy. I've had to screw the colours in some right back to 16 or less (see Walter:-) for example. Compare his one here to his overclockers one.......) That's what only having 30Kb to play with means.......

I do see the difference in image quality - but the avatars were looking horrendous when I wrote this... like some decided to add a texture to them called "Angora sweater that went through the dryer". Extremely fuzzy and distorted.

eesshh.. 16 colours.. I guess this is the price I have to pay for 56k friendly pages.
