I am doing a lot of PM'ing lately, the 30 second rule would be much more useful to me there since I have to PM several people at once and don't want to depend on their email accounts to exchange info.

I'm glad someone's trying to slow you guy's down. I'm here all the time and you still have nearly double my posts .

But I'll be the first to admit they are mostly just chit chat at the moment, there just aren't enough questions being asked. An way those of you who worship the post count will be pleased to hear I'm not gonna be hear as often as I have been, maybe 2 or 3 nights a week at best

I think it's called capitalism. Ask Mr. Keynes, isn't he from your country?

BT are not a great example of capitalism.

What company would, when it has a virtual monopoly in broadband delivery (ADSL - cable networks aren't big enough yet over here), price it so high (£40/month) that the takeup rate is really low?

So now, people are jumping ship from BT to AOL for unmetered dial-up access??

It's not like they need to rewire the country to deliver ADSL - as far as I am aware it's virtually a software mod on modern exchanges!

Personally, I don't see the point of having a monoploy unless you get as much cash out of it as you can - the capitalist gods should smite BT execs for being so dumb!

I meant getting paid, not BT. Paying for services is a fundamental idea in capitalism.

I know, I just felt like a quick rant at BT.

[rant]I've just moved house and my only broadband option is ADSL - but I'm not going to pay £40/month when I can hopefully get cable broadband for £25/month at some point in the future (the cable is out there, it just doesn't come close enough yet).

Anyway - all done now, thank you for indulging me[/rant]

Anyone going to respond to my comment about Mr. Keynes, or must I write a brief biography of him

John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946)

Most famous quote - 'In the long-run we are all dead'

Must have been good - he has a whole branch of economics named after him.

Proponent of counter-cyclical demand management policies.

You guys in the US are experiencing this right now, aren't you. Bush sees a recession, so he cuts taxes and issues rebates in advance, banking on a medium-term improvement in the economy (and therefore tax revenue) to get him out of a budget deficit hole.

I think his take on paying BT may have been to say that if we can't afford to do it, then the government should to stimulate demand and boost the economy in the short term, then increase taxes later to pay for it?

As far as I know, he didn't have a take on BT. What I meant, was that because the customer had to pay for the services, he/she would be contributing to the overall wealth of the country, and this wealth would inevitable return to him/her through other sources.
