Wolfenstein Test II

In case you Wolf Playas out there didn't notice, there is a second Test released for RTCW. You can find a list of mirrors here http://www.activision.com/games/wolfenstein/home.html

I'm wondering what people think of it.

I'm not sure what their doing, but for me, it's backwards progress. The new Thompson graphics suck, I get lower frame rates w/ no improvement in visual quality, and none of the play balancing seems to make any diff.

What Do You Think?

I will give it props for having a cooler interface than the first test, though.

I went to http://activision.com/games/wolfenstein/home.html and checked it out and didn't see a date. Although that doesn't mean I'm not blind.

Using version 2 here. Seems solid from my end. Little slow on the fire rate of some guns, but those mounted guns just put out a solid beam of lead!!! I like the new version.

Ya, the update rate of fire on the MG42's is much better. This is much closer to realism than the MG34 like machine guns in Test 1.

MG42?!?! What's that? See, I just always use the MP40 or whatever it's called and still kick some butt. So what's this MG crap?

EDIT: I looked it up. It's those big guns that don't move that are really good for shooting people in the front room thing by the flag.

Ya, those damn NAZI's (except when I'm playing as one, of course) used two types of light/medium machine guns in WWII. The MG34, which was a high production piece and was relatively mobile, and the MG42, which while it was still considered mobile, was usually used in an emplacement. The MG42's claim to fame was its rate of fire (ROF). I beleive that it still holds the title for the highest ROF for any production, single-barreled machine gun at like 1200RPM. The biggest problem w/ these in the field was keeping enough ammo with them.

Hey EO, you seem like a fellow WolfenFreak, do you have a specific server you normally play on, or do you float. I admit, I'm a floater

I just float myself. I prefer games that don't have 15+ players on each side, it gets too crowded. Other than that I'll play one on one or eight on eight with any time limit. Of course everytime I get absorbed in a good game my cat starts moaning and whining about how lonely he is and how he'll die if I don't spend time with him immediately!

Just played for a while and sure enough, I'm playing Wolfenstein so he has to wake up and come into the other room and let me know that I neglect him. I play with headphones, it's not like he hears the game sounds and they wake him, he's just psychic. Perhaps he knows that I'll be killed by a computer game in the future and he's trying to warn me.

OH MY GOD. IT'S FINALLY HERE.

In case you all missed it, RTCW went GOLD on the 15th. It's scheduled to be released everywhere this WED. The 21st. Activisions website also mentions that it will be available in select stores on the 20th.

You all likely won't see me posting for weeks now. I'll see you all as SJAXKINGPIN on the Wolfie servers though. You can count on that.

I've been waiting for the follow-up to this game for 10yrs. I was like 13 or so when it came out, and I've been waiting ever since for a second one.

mrpcman brings up a good point. In order to support the developers of great gaming material, you need to BUY it. I spend a great deal of time file-sharing (wink) myself, but if I enjoy the work and want to see more from them, I always buy. I only D/L the games I wouldn't otherwise buy. This is lame, but important.

Yup, if it's a good product, go support the creators so that they can come out with future great products.
