I guess not and since it's all DHCP, they assign me my ip...

I believe some ISPs change your IP periodically (monthly maybe), even if you have a router up acting as a computer online all the time. They have short term "leases" that expire (or something to that effect). I have ATT@home also and I believe mine has changed a couple times, evne though I run behind a router also.

Can't remember where I read that, but it has proven true in my case.

I have Rogers@home, and in their rules it says you can't have a server. I don't think they mean game server, but you can't host your own site on your computer because they use DHCP, and you might get a different IP every time you sign on... oh well, my friend still hosts his own site on his computer, and nothing bad happened to it.. yet.

There's a proggie I use called DynSite for Windows that simply checks the IP on restart, matches it to see if it's changed, and if it did sends it to your choice of numerous free dynamic DNS host sites...

example for me (even though I'm not hosting anything at the moment):

http://speshalk.dyndns.org:12345

this way I never need my IP and if I do I ping or tracert to the name...

I have re-discovered UT recently. However, I think the need for some new maps is a legitimate one. Phiber/MrPCman, I have some for download. Let me know if you're willing/interested and I'll set us up the link.

I'm sorry, but it should have read:

I never got around to playing much wolf, but instead of beating myself up for throwing $50 away, I just continue to play UT 'cause it's fun (and has better weapons/mods)...

Remember that my upload is only 40kb/s...

larger 110mb file which includes a bunch of deathmatch maps and all these CTF maps.

I still need to load these myself as I wiped this part of my drive clean recently and have to go through the 40 minute ordeal to re-add 60 maps to UT (including the sound/texture/etc some of them add)...

I downloaded the 110MB file, but it took forever. it peaked at 11k and hung around 4.5k. this is on my cable internet. I'll install it soon.

Someone else might have been downloading from my FTP that night, I have some good stuff there now . I get 40kbps whenever I am downloading during the daytime...
