UT:game of the year alt-tab problem

Hey guys,

I have a dilema. In Unreal Tournament:Game of the year edition, I can't alt-tab. Is this normal or is my game just being stupid. I have the patch v.436, but I still can't task switch. Let me know if this is normal. Thanks guys.

You should be able to alt+tab.
But UT usually crash if you have different colordepth in UT and Windows desktop.
Try set both to same colordepth if they don't already are.

yeah, it should do it, but if the res/depth is different UT may not like it.

I do ALT+ENTER instead. I see whats in the game, and do whatever I want in windows.

It worked! Thanks for the tip guys. It worked like a charm! Now I can alt-tab. Appreciate the help. Now if I can only try to figure out how to benchmark my Unreal Tourney game. . . and how to run a demo from it. . .hmmmm

About demos
There is a very nice tool created by Usaar called UT Demo Manager which can be downloaded here .
You can read all about it there too.

Else you type those commands in your console:

To record a demo: Demorec (put filename here)
To view a demo: Demoplay (put filename here)
To stop record or view: Stopdemo

When you record a demo, the file will be saved in your Unrealtournament\system-folder, to view a demo, you have to put it in your Unrealtournament\system-folder first unless you use the demomanager.


Benhmarking

There is several demos people use to benchmark.
In a forum I regular visit, we use the cityintro to benchmark.
To do this, you do as follow:
Open console:
type timedemo 1, that will show your FPS in the right middle of the screen.
next type open cityintro to start the flyby scene. Hit escape until you can see it.
When it's finished, hit escape again and open your console.
There you can see the max, min and average score.
If don't want to see your fps anylonger, type timedemo 0 in your console.

If you want to compare your scores with other, I suggets you go to Beyond Unreal Forums . In the Unrealtournament forum there you will find a sticky thread at the top named Cityintro.unr benchmarks here (updated)

Btw, I post there as Swedix and that is also my nick when I play UT online, except I have my clantag , [Ci], infront of my nick. Sometimes on pub's I also use the name $wedix.
