Elite

I remember playing Elite for hours and hours years ago on an old amstrad computer.

Yesterday I picked up the PC version for the sum of £1 at a car boot sale. It's got all the manuals, the wall poster showing the galaxies, everything in "as new" condition. Had to buy it to see if it was as good as I seem to remember it was.

Anyone else remember playing it?

Vividly! Elite was first released on the BBC Micro which is a British thing.

I had a ZX Spectrum, many years ago, it had 48k of RAM and Elite was a very addictive game. You would find it hard to believe that it was possible to fit an extremely good game into so little space, but there were many others like "The Hobbit".

Oh, yes! I had a copy for the Amiga 500 which was bought for me by a friend sick of my commandeering his BBC-B for days on end... There has NEVER been a game like it since. Frontier was a bit of a let-down, really.

Yeah, I remember Elite - had a copy on a BBC B. It did, however, require the purchase of a floppy disk controller for the BBC machine.

Right on Commander!
