Half Life II is coming

Unfortunately the team at Valve has left me NOT wanting this game. First they decide that those of us with nVidia cards won't be able to get the full benefits of the new graphics, then they have a mysterious 'leak' of the source code, and of course they have missed the release date by what, two years? What I think is happening is that they are creating excuses to cover up how slow progress on the game has been. My vote: HL2 No, Doom 3 Yes!

To be honest, I am feeling that Doom 3 will be the better of the two. HL2 looks like more of the same just with an up to date engine. Doom 3 looks more likely to be something new with suprises. I may be wrong!

Valve have no input into HL2 now. But have just announced work on HL3 (WTF?!)

But with HL2, comes 100's more games. Think of the mods

The engine should be the mother of many excellent games.

I bet you allot of money you will end up getting that game. As for it not working well with NVIDIA cards, this is hardly Valves fault. NVIDIA immediately thought that their graphics engine would be used, but instead Valve went for ATI’s.
I’m sure that by the time the game comes out NVIDIA would have fully optimized their drivers so that it will run a lot better than what was originally thought

I think i actually pre ordered this game back in november last year... i think i've paid the money too i wonder if i'll ever get it.
NIN doing the music again on doom so it should be a real moody freak show!!

Honestly to me, I think Doom 3 is going to be aimed at scaring the PISS out of people that are playing.

i remember watching a video clip of a presentation of apple mac, presenting doom 3 with a gf 3 card... probably need the latest card to play niclly now

NIN doing the music? That will rock. I loved the soundtrack on quake.

I reckon HL2 is gonna rock whether it got any major innovations beyond the engine or not. The only thing stopping me replaying HL is that I've done it several times and the story's old.

Doom 3 will probably have a different atmosphere to it. I love the sound of a stealth based game where run and gun probably won't work and a multiplayer max of around 4.

Mixx - I didn't say I wasn't going to buy it . Just that Gabe Newell and his big mouth (and inability to meet his own deadlines) has left me more interested in Doom3.

i've got a hl2 voucher too from my asus 9800xt, not really bothered about either games really, things i'm looking out for atm are need for speed underground 2, live for speed s2, and a new star trek game would be nice, though none are in the pipeline :-(

first person games are abit boring to me these days, although i wouldnt mind an elite force stylee star trek game, where you had to do tasks aboard ship in order to progress up through the ranks. and eventually get to captain a ship if you wanted. multiple story plotline / tangents would be good as well.
Do you go for first officer of a large ship or captain a smaller ship and earn your rank from there.
Would be cool sadly i doubt it'll ever see light :-(

All info at work points towards an October 04 release (Providing HL2 is released this side of Xmas)
