I think they recommend like 2GHz and a DX9 card, or maybe that was the HL2 specs

[H] OCP run some doom 3 benchmarks on Nvidia and Ati. Just some info on what kind of system you need. They seem to conclude that the engine is very flexible. How they come to this conclusion I don't know since they only test the top end cards (and gets abot 60fps on high qual, 1600 res, loads of AA). Interesting read but sounds like a bit of an attempt to get those, who were not willing to buy because they think they'll need an upgrade, to buy it.

The sys requirements really aren't that high at all. I can run the leaked alpha fairly smoothly on a Radeon 9200 64MB. No settings can be altered in that build but I assume that it can only look better and run smoother in the final release. If you're on the wall about buying this game because you're not sure weather your graphics card can handle it, keep what I've said in mind. If you're still not convinced, just wait for a demo (which should come out shortly after the game's release.)

Anyway, I bought the first three today just to see what this is all about

I think people are hoping to regain that feeling of playing doom\quake1\system shock2 back when they were first came on the scene in doom3 with all the advantages more CPU/GPU speed, more memory and more refined/evolved codeing techniques could alow. With the suspense factor ID's predecessers had coupled with the darker/gothic setting. I think everyones hopeing it'll be a winner or aleast a change

I'm wondering wether the multiplayer side of things will be a hit or miss. The'd better have added some originality to it. Terrorist/counter terrorist - army style multiplayer games are hard to beat. I dont think im expecting much from the game, one or two runs through the non randomised script of the game will probably be as much as the game will offer me.

Still i can hope.

For those worried that their Radeon 9xxx's wouldn't handle it, unofficial confirmation that Ati are working on their OpenGL driver so that Doom3 will be more favourable. Apparently they've not changed their GL code for over a year.

I expected this to happen but it's a relief anyway (I'm a 9700Pro-boy).

I'd like to see someone pull of a simsonline type of thing for first person shooters.

Sort of a grand theft auto thing except BIGGER and online.

Think a cool version of MMORPG. (yes that was a low blow) SUCKERS!
