Good games need very little marketing/advertising. So, I'm always a bit dubious of games which are heavily marketed, it suggests to me that the sales figures are bad. EA do lots of advertising...

I'd be a hypocrite to hate EA since I like a lot of their games. I'd be a hypocrite to really hate Microsoft when I'm actually quite happy with Windows XP, and there ARE alternatives available. Both to EA and to Windows. I won't diss them with one hand, while playing their games with the other...

ea has all the rights to the nfl so that pretty much screws espn over, then they probably will get baseball and everything else. they are the microsoft of the gaming industry

No, they are worse. They discourage any sort of innovation or Creativity within their developers.

They gobble up small but highly talented development companies.

-Westwood (C&C, Dune ect)
-Maxis (Sims, Sim City ect)
-Bulldog (Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper ect)
-Origin (Wing Commander)

They admit to releasing mediocre games, but still market the hell out of them.

They release the same stupid game every year but with a different title.
Fifa 200X
NHL 200X
Madden 200X
What's worse, everyone buys them expecting something other than the title to change.

They buy out all the rights for recently released films, then release a really poor game for it, Stick the "Challenge Everything" logo on it (disabling the skip title function). Put a THX logo on it, and put onto the market and forget about it.

EA Trax is a joke. Music should complement the game. Instead, EA use in game music for a different purpose.

Some of their games are OK. EG: Harry Potter was OK, my four year old nephew seemed to enjoy it. He is now 5 and knows better. We have LAN's with my mates at Battlefront. He does better than me. LoL

i quite enjoyed C&C Tiberian Sun, but that was before EA gobbled up the seperate brand names. C&C will always be westwood studios to me

EA now hold 20% of shares within Ubisoft. They are also set to take over DICE (Battlefield ETC) So don't expect any further decent titles in the Battlefield Franchise.

What's worse, they've now secured an Exclusive deal with NFL. So there will be no alternative to EA's junk.

it seems they are very close to getting exclusive liesences or both the NBA and MLB as well.

They have obviously bought out Free Radical, so don't expect any decent Timesplitters games.
