BF 2 running SLOW at start???

Everytime I start a round in BF 2 (multiplayer or singleplayer) the graphics and sound is REALLY choppy for about 2 minutes. Then everything usually starts to run fine. Why is this happening??? Also during this choppy behavior I notice that my harddrive is really working hard at something, and when the game finally does get smooth, the harddrive sort of goes back to normal?!

yep. 7800GTX...still cannot play on high settings perforctly @ 1024x768.

kinda sounds like the memory leak i run into in another game... is this a possibility?

nope. it's just the large amts of texture data that must be sent along the HTT/PCI-E/AGP bus for the game @ high detail levels.

basically, ideal systems consist of 2gb of ram, 2.4ghz++ AMD processor, and 512mb of video memory(6800U 512mbx2).

Of course, not many people have those systems...so...lower the lighting detail sections, or run meduim settings.
